Dangerously beautiful

In 2008, the "Nodding Thistle" was elected to the flower of the year. This thistle devoted Fridel Dethleffs-Edelmann, along with the silver thistle, her painting. Thistles can sting, but they are not evil

The multi-colored background corresponds to the Black Forest. The home of the thistles, however, is almost everywhere. Allen thistles are common to the basket with numerous tubular flowers. Especially feared are their spines: There are arms against the beef critters that they graze or want to pick.

Dangerous and beautiful can be related. Also beautiful snakes can be dangerous. But not everything Hazardous compensated by its beauty as much as the thistles.
