Fridel Dethleffs-Edelmann was given the task of drawing teacher at the slowly emerging school in Isny after the end of World War II in 1945. For several years she then awakened the joy of drawing and painting for the children - and also for Ursula. First, the school hours took place in the old kindergarten. After the French army returned the Dethleffs house, which had previously been confiscated as a command post, to the Dethleffs family, the teacher moved with her students to the Dethleffs family's studio in the Wolfsbühl house. For Fridel Dethleffs-Edelmann, this had the advantage that she no longer had to get up early. For the schoolchildren, the house with the large garden was always a new experience.
Ursula Dethleffs made several woodcuts from this time under the title In der Schule der Kunst
The second woodcut was made in 1950 - it was entitled: Children's painting school 2: WVZ 286016, 1950
