Floral paintings from Fridel Dethleffs-Edelmann Cutout and Original 1915-1970

1915 - 100 years ago Fridel Dethleffs-Edelmann her oil painting "Capuchin" painted - she was only a 15 year old girl. As Senior she finished in 1970 her oil painting "rime"; they had become 71 years old.

Many paintings she has devoted her life to flowers. We show now 35 of these oil paintings. To make the differences and their development transparent, we show first large format a section in front of and next to the original. Each comparison shows the great love of the painter to the intricate detail and infinite beauty of crea-tion. The transience of sounds in the pictures - but about the beauty of the painting we can bear im-permanence.

Not always the life of the artist was as beautiful as her flowers painting. Her youth with parents was indeed happy. But then destroyed the WW1 happiness. The strugg-le for survival began, than followed the struggle of the artist to the permission to be allowed to study art - it was formerly prohibited for women. The Handikap sees no one now, but it hurt the artists very.

The hard-fought study was despite all the hardships a happy time for the young pain-ter. After first art awards and her marriage to Arist Dethleffs, after the birth of the world Ursula seemed fine.

But then limited the Nazis nearly every freedom - for the life, thought and art. Some artists fought, some conformed more or less - as well Fridel Dethleffs-Edelmann. At least she was able to devote in this period of artistic education her daughter Ursu-la. She had then but luckier than many other women, which the war destroyed the family. After WW2 the artistic "religious war" with all those who had always known it all be-gan. Fridel Dethleffs-Edelmann continued to paint - until their cancer surgery in the head. She survived the disease - but many limitations were the result.

Who knew the hard-working artist, wondered what the source of their power came for the many, enchanting floral paintings.
