View of the textile treasures of the artist

Ursula Dethleffs had collected at the end of her life many treasures from wood, metal, textiles, etc with relatives, friends, antique dealers and even in second-hand dealers with infinite stamina Everything was hoarded in her studio:

Her friend Kristin Fischer - pictured above - has worked as an artist herself with textiles. Our request: bringing order out of Ursula's "treasures" , she has agreed after the death of Ursula - without hesitation. But not only has she helped to organize, she was also the only one that has restored some of the many tapestries in the sense of Ursula lovingly. In the name of Ursula we sincerely thank Ms. Kirstin Fischer.

2009 - Secretary of State Rudolf Köberle visited the Dethleffs gallery

The visit of Secretary of State R. Köberle and members of the district CDU was dedicated to: "art, business and politics in the home of the Dethleffs".

Being an entrepreneur, Arist Dethleffs fulfilled his wife's desire for a driving studio in 1931. From the first caravan that was built, a whole carvan and motor caravan factory with over 900 employees developed after long years under internal and external control. Since her graduation, the artist Fridel Dethleffs-Edelmann was closely connected to the Arts Academy of Karlsruhe and the New Objecticity. In contrast to this, her daughter, Ursula Dethleffs, wanted to freely unfold her profession as an artist. She was very lucky, that her mother founded the artist community Secession Upper Swabia-Lake of Constance. Members and friends of the SOB became her teachers, like e.g. Max Ackermann. Liberally-minded, the family traveled in their caravan to all important exhibitions and museums in Europe and Asia. After 1945, Arist Dethleffs was appointed to politics: he became the 1st protestant regional chairman of the CDU Württemberg-Hohenzollern. By the end of their life – he and later on also his daughter Ursula – were members of the CDU.

24.05.2001 - Erwin Hymer Hymer opened exhibition in gallery "artists travel"

The key figures for the exhibition: posters personally distributed in Ravensburg: 86 invitations by letter: 3,000 Visitors: 110 Open on days: 13

Ladies and Gentlemen,

1931 - ie 70 years ago - the first caravan was built in Germany. It was built in 1931 by Dethleffs here in Isny. That was the reason for the Dethleffs to celebrate a feast. At this festival the Dethleffs also wanted an exhibition with pictures from these 70 years. Therefore, my staff asked for pictures with you, Mr Riedle. From this question, this exhibition has developed here. It is a unique combination of art, photos and diary notes about the journeys of the Hymer family.

Some of these artworks and photos I've learned to know during my visits earlier in this house Dethleffs. Today I like to remember these works, but especially the conversations with the family Dethleffs. The center of the family was then Dethleffs who built the Caravan in the former sporting goods factory. Her husband as the center also stressed woman Fridel Dethleffs-Edelmann again - see here the three Dethleffs left on the wall in the family portrait.

The family portrait Dethleffs CID no. 152034

In your sympathetic nature woman Fridel Dethleffs Edelmann has never made their own contribution to this development in the foreground. The proportion of women in the construction of the Dethleffs Caravan is greater than has been suspected. She was the fact that had been registered in 1924 in her diary about a trip from Karlsruhe to Oberstdorf following:

The first car as a living replica of the garden Fridel Dethleffsweg 1

"Monday night, made plans for our future living car" This Monday night was the 6 October 1924! Sure you ask yourself: Why has it taken so long then - from 1924 to 1931 - to the construction of the first caravan in Isny? The answer is simple: It has its plane not on this Monday evening - Dethleffs forged, but - now that must be told - with artist friend Hans Schöpflin. Dethleffs know it until later, and learned to love. Aristotle married in Fridel 1931. What's husband may be surprised that Dethleffs immediately began after his marriage to fulfill his desire for a woman whose home car?

The first streamlined Dethleffs front of the factory <br /> (sitting in the car producer Albert Dethleffs stands in front of his son Aristotle and his team)

With the fulfillment of this desire, the former sporting goods factory has developed to work Dethleffs caravans. With your own car, the family living Dethleffs has made many, many trips. On these trips many impressions have been collected, processed into works of art: to works of Mrs. Fridel Dethleffs-Edelmann and her daughter Ursula.

Today we are fortunate to rediscover the result of many trips to photos, pictures and diary entries. That is the reason for me to thank the Dethleffs Family: I would like to thank the three Hobby for the development of the caravan and its art. Many thanks to you, Mr. Riedle, for the care of works of art Dethleffs in our region.
