The full flower spikes of hyacinth and the strong red of the tulips are the main melodies of the painting. The strong red gives the painting its bright sound. But since nature knows not only wealth, but also sets limits, the artist paints these bright melody with a "counterpoint": they are the geometric rectangles that give the gorgeous colors of tulips their natural context. Fridel Dethleffs-Edelmann she creates mostly pastel colors - in fragrant gray, where they admixed tender green, blue and red tones.
