The nodding thistle

Before the brown-green field under the blue sky has dissolved the thistle. In the foreground the indicated details: small buds with the shapes of the opening blooms on spindly stems. These almost-edged fruit stand with numerous fine spines. In addition, long panicles of grasses with seed

The colors of the background are involved in irregular rectangles. Dried brown dominates. Some are green, one is yellow. Full lacks the dark violet flowering. The thistles are all faded. The drought is so great that the buds are no longer open.

The Nodding Thistle had been elected in 2008 to the flower of the year. It was painted in 1961 by Fridel Dethleffs-Edelmann
