Anticipation for Christmas
A small Christmas tree is carried by Nicholas in his right hand. On his back he drags a sack full of Christmas gifts. The barn with Gretel and a bear found no place in the sack. The doll looks at us from his travel bag. In addition, the rod dangles as a threat to all naughty children. Apples are on the way. They have fallen through the lock of the bag.
The watercolor is from the year 1923 - it is soon 100 years old. Fridel Edelmann has been studying at the Badische Landeskunstschule in Karlsruhe since 1919. Only a few of these early watercolors have survived the many years and also the second world war.
