Guardian of the geese
Chattering geese
Liesel wants to keep her geese. She walks barefoot with a leaf branch in the left to the brook. The goose behind can not be disturbed - it simply floats further. The goose in front looks calmly over to Liesel. Then Liesel stops: The third goose comes flinging aggressively and with great chatter. Will she attack? Does it excite the red of the skirt? Does she want to defend her boy?
One thing is clear: the geese are not always as good as Liesel had expected. In ancient Rome they even defended the soldiers of the enemy. They wanted to attack Rome at night. Geese listened to them and chattered so loud that the sleeping Romans could wake up and drive out the evil enemies.
